The courage of small truths

Dear Reader,

This morning I found an old notebook from the year I wrote Blessed My Young. On one page there is a single line underlined twice: “The hardest thing to write is what everyone already knows but no one says.”

I’ve been thinking about that sentence a lot lately.

So many of us carry small, private truths — things we suspect our parents felt, our partners sense, our children fear — but never speak aloud. My novels are, in their own way, an attempt to speak them for the characters, and perhaps for the reader too.

I’ve started something new. It’s still fragile and uncertain, but it feels like the beginning of another long walk into the unknown. I’ll share more when the shape becomes clearer.

In the meantime, I hope you are reading something that feels necessary.

With quiet gratitude,

Claire
